You Can Catch More Flies With Honey Than With Vinegar Bible
Attract more than flies with dearest… Psalms 106
As I read from affiliate 106 in the book of Psalms today, I was reminded of God'southward astonishing grace and mercy. This Psalm is basically an acquittance of the amazing love of God and His mercy upon those who say they love Him, but keep in blatant disobedience – namely, the children of Israel.
It fabricated me think of all the times I've failed my Lord as well – and all the times He has heard my cries and came to my rescue. The fundamental verse for me is verse 8:
viii Yet he saved them for his name's sake, to make his mighty power known.
It's another reminder that "it's not about me!" No thing how the children of State of israel had failed God, over and over, he nevertheless saved them for His name's sake – "to make His mighty ability known."
I guess that'due south why He continues to come to my aid – to show Himself as a merciful, loving God. I suppose the old addage "yous tin can concenter more flies with honey than with vinegar" may apply here. I mean – if someone looking on to my life, seeing me effort-and-fail, try-and-fail – then God came and smashed me with some behemothic, heavenly thumb-crunch, I suppose that may make some follow Him out of fear. But – when they see God continue to bless and care for me, drawing me back to Himself with amazing lovingkindness – it seems like that would exist so much more than attractive.
True – I realize that if I would simply try-and-succeed once in a while, you wouldn't accept to be reading this drivvel! Merely – every bit hard as I try, I continue to screw up.
That's why I'k so thankful that He is who He is – the Great I Am, Merciful Begetter, Daddy.
